Danny's Birthday Party!
OK I know many of you are dying for pictures so here are a few to whet your whistle.

Yes, they are naked. It was all Matt's fault. Seriously. More soon...

Big Weekend
So we had a pretty busy weekend!
First was assembling this bad boy, which somehow miraculously fits. I think if the whole doc thing doesn't work out, I could design jail cells for maximum space usage.
Danny started out on top, but has since migrated to the bottom bunk. It's really rad in there - a constant fort. I told him that I would work on getting a curtain for the bottom bunk, but that I'm not "very good" at that kind of thing, and that he probably shouldn't hold his breath.
Here's Matt saying, "We're ready for you Pops!"
Then we finished the garden. Tomatoes, celery, broccoli, lettuces, swiss chard, eggplant, pole beans, cukes, zucchini, cauliflower, and watermelon.
In one of those classic Mary-and-Dave moments, I decided after we'd planted and mulched the entire thing, that if Dave could figure out how to saw that ridiculously long piece of wood that's been out back since we moved in, it would provide a perfect walking path to help with weeding and watering.
I think it took him 45 minutes to saw through with our terrible saw, and he couldn't quiiiiite get up afterwards without help. But look at it! It's awesome!
I'm working on a new watering system where I capture the dishwashing gray water during the day in a tub, then use that to water the plants. If it works, it will be built-in compost tea!
Nothing better than working in the garden, I swear.

Easter Eggies
We celebrated Easter with the Easter Vigil mass at St. Mark's here in Venice. The Vigil, although late, has always been my favorite service and I wanted the kids to experience it.
It started at 7pm. Two hours later, at 9pm, Danny turned to me and said very politely, "Mommy, I'm very tired, and I'd like to go home." Matty was not quite so polite, yelling "Skyscraper! Taxi! Traffic Liiiiiiight! Skyscraper! Taxi! Traffic Liiiiiight!" over and over, clearly delirious. So we ducked out a little early to go home and get jams on.
Pretty soon thereafter, we discovered to my surprise that the Easter Bunny's powers were much greater than Santa's. I told Danny that we had to let the Easter Bunny know whether or not he went to bed easily, and man, he just pulled those covers right up and yelled, "Turn off the light!" And he was out.
The next morning, Uncle John came over to watch the party, in time to see them wake up to their baskets...

Somehow the Easter Bunny had found a Datsun 510 Hot Wheels car at the local 99 Cent store! Pretty cool.
And then it was time to look for eggs, or as Danny was calling them - Easter Eggies!
The powers of the Easter Bunny remained strong, when I told the guys they had to wear these hats in order to find the eggs:
Both kids did great!
After Danny ate half a pound of MnMs, we had our traditional Easter Sunday Eggs Benedict, and then headed over to the Ferguson's for their annual Easter egg hunt. Lots of friends, and more chocolate!!!!!! (Cue eyes spinning in opposite directions.)
That's Shane, Raiss, and Danny in the bin.
Danny has officially declared Easter his favorite holiday. Better, in fact, than his birthday or Christmas. Maybe if we hid his Christmas presents around the yard, it would even the score?
